What we do
BANOs Database
A unique database of over 500 Black and Asian network organisations across sectors
How we can help
We have identified that a key challenge for organisations wishing to recruit more diverse trustees is a lack of access to or knowledge of Black and Asian networks or individuals with the skills, talents and experience which charities are seeking. Most charities also only recruit informally from within their usual and familiar sources and contacts. That has the inevitable effect of perpetuating the status quo. That’s why we’ve researched online and compiled a unique database of over 500 Black and Asian network organisations across sectors from which charities might draw on to recruit Black and Asian trustees with the skills and experience they may be looking for.
You can obtain access to the database by making a donation below.
Following your donation, please email us at info@boardracialdiversity.org.uk with the name of your donation to gain access to the BANO database. (Invoices for donations are available upon request).
Suggested donations are £50 for small charities, £100 or more for larger charities and £200 or more for commercial trustee recruitment agencies.
When making donations, please ensure to include your name or organisation name in order to proceed with us.
For organisations who have already accessed the database previously and want to receive an updated version, we suggest a further, reduced donation/payment.
Building up your own ”BANOs”
Don’t just circulate your recruitment advert to networks without putting time and effort into relationship building with the networks. Allow a lead in time of 3-6 months.
You can research, identify and build links with local Black and Asian network organisations yourself; be welcoming and inclusive.
The database already lists keywords against each organisation.
Use key search words for example – African, African Caribbean, Afro-Caribbean, Asian, BAME, Bangladeshi, Black, Caribbean, Chinese, Ethnic Minority, Faith, Islamic, indian, Pakistani, Muslim, Race.
Combine with the skills, experience or expertise you’re seeking. e.g. engineering, environment, legal, fundraising, digital, tech, media, business, sport, finance, music etc, e.g. Afro-Caribbean and music or BAME or Black or Asian and tech.
